A276 is the ‘Standard Specification for Stainless Steel Bars and Shapes. The ASTM A479 is a technical document that specifies the criteria for stainless steel hot/cold finished bars.
Except for bar reforging, the astm A276 latest edition standard is for stainless steel bars that have been hot-finished or cold-finished. This contains the frequently used stainless steel kinds such as squares, hexagons, and hot-rolled or extruded forms, including angles, tees, and channels. Round, square, and hexagonal bars, as well as hot-rolled or extruded angles, tees, and channels.
The composition and mechanical property requirements for a variety of stainless steel when provided as bars—hot- or cold-finished, round, hexagonal, or square—are specified in this general standard for delivery. The specification covers four types of steel: austenitic, austenitic-ferritic, ferritic, and martensitic.
The material will undergo a mechanical test to determine its Brinell hardness, elongation, yield strength, and tensile strength. The tensile strength, yield strength, elongation, and hardness values for various heat treatments are included in the A479 standards.

ASTM A276 specification - hot-finished or cold-finished stainless-steel bars except for bars for reforging. A479 specifications - The values for tensile strength, yield strength, elongation, and hardness that are specified by the A479 standard are applicable to a variety of heat treatments.
