Silicon Steels is a renowned supplier of the Duplex UNS S31803 ERW Pipes as well as a manufacturer. ASTM A790 Duplex 2205 Pipe, aerated ferrite steel, can be used in corrosive conditions and can withstand localized corrosion such as stress corrosion cracking and tearing. Due to its chemical composition and characteristics, this stainless steel can withstand the high stress, but if you use the regular stainless steel instead, it will fail. For water treatment modules, upstream manufacture of high chloride gas, oil, paper and pulp processing, etc.
Duplex 2205 EFW Pipe consists of a steady ferrite step surrounded by austenite plates. Our Duplex 2205 EFW tubes are about twice as strong as regular austenitic stainless steel grades. These Duplex S31803 ERW tubes are the most commonly used duplex grades and due to defects, should not be used in temperatures above 300 degrees C. Thanks to our policy of maintaining a high level of stock over a variety of sizes, we can typically ship our Duplex 2205 ERW Pipes to global destinations by sea or air frequency with immediate delivery. The Duplex 2205 ERW Tubes are often exposed for a longer period of time to embroideries in the 370 degree C and 540 Degree C scales. The Duplex 2205 Pipes are a 50/50 austenite and ferrite stainless steel with an output power twice the value of traditional Austin stainless steel. Also Super Duplex S32750 ERW pipes have high corrosion resistance in contrast to massive quantities of chromium using other steels.
Our Duplex Steel 2205 ERW Pipes feature outstanding pitting and crevice corrosion resistance in addition to their high strength and toughness. Pipes with this kind of anti-corrosion protection are used in the production of biofuels, pressured tanks, and cleaning equipment. The cold work of our ASTM A789 Duplex Steel UNS S32205 Pipe makes our seamless tubes very weldable and robust, although they are a little challenging to manufacture because of their seamless construction.
An alloy of stainless steel called Duplex 2205 has 22% chromium, 5% nickel, and 3% molybdenum in its composition. It is a two-phase ferritic-austenitic stainless steel with a duplex microstructure that offers improved resistance to stress corrosion cracking, pitting, and crevice corrosion. These types of corrosion may occur when there is an imbalance between the ferritic and austenitic phases.
The following is a list of some of the most important features and advantages offered by the Duplex 2205:
Great strength: The yield strength of Duplex 2205 is about twice as high as that of typical austenitic stainless steels, making it a good material option for high-stress levels.
The chloride stress corrosion cracking, pitting, and crevice corrosion that Duplex 2205 is susceptible to are significantly reduced.
Excellent weldability: Duplex 2205 may be effectively welded using normal welding processes. This property contributes to the material's excellent corrosion resistance.Duplex 2205 may be welded using normal welding processes with excellent results. This property allows for excellent weldability.
High erosion resistance: Due to its great resistance to erosion and erosion corrosion, Duplex 2205 is suitable for use in hostile situations. This property makes it an excellent choice for construction purposes.
Excellent formability: Duplex 2205 may be readily cold-worked and molded, making it ideal for various applications thanks to its excellent formability.
It is important to note that Duplex 2205 is more costly than other types of stainless steel alloys because of its high percentage of nickel. However, due to its great strength and exceptional corrosion resistance, it is a perfect material for a broad range of applications that place significant demands on the material.

Corrosion Resistance:
Duplex 2205 has good resistance to corrosion, particularly chloride-induced stress corrosion cracking. This property makes it resistant to chloride-induced stress corrosion cracking. In addition to being resistant to pitting and crevice corrosion, it may also be used in a wide range of environments known to be corrosive. A high percentage of chromium and molybdenum in the alloy gives it an outstanding resistance to general corrosion. Meanwhile, the percentage of nickel in the alloy enhances its resistance to stress corrosion cracking.
The corrosion resistance of Duplex 2205 is about equal to the corrosion resistance of alloy 317L, which is superior to the corrosion resistance of typical austenitic stainless steel grades like 304 and 316. Compared to the microstructure of other stainless steel alloys, the duplex structure of Duplex 2205 provides higher resistance to corrosion.
Even though Duplex 2205 has great corrosion resistance, it is nevertheless possible for it to corrode in certain situations. This is especially true when chlorides or other aggressive chemicals are present. The necessary procedures must be followed throughout the selection, manufacture, installation, and maintenance of the alloy in order to achieve the desired result of the alloy's long-term performance in corrosive environments.
Heat Resistance:
Although Duplex 2205 has considerable heat resistance, it does not possess the same level of heat resistance as other stainless steel alloys. It is heat resistant up to around 260 degrees Celsius (500 degrees Fahrenheit); however, its heat resistance will decrease as the temperature rises. The duplex microstructure of duplex 2205 results in lower heat resistance than that of austenitic stainless steel grades such as 304 and 316.
Duplex 2205 is ideal for a wide variety of applications in high-temperature environments. This alloy is often used in equipment like heat exchangers, pressure vessels, and other devices that need great strength and resistance to corrosion.
Notably, the heat resistance of Duplex 2205 may be impacted by other factors, including the presence of impurities, the pace at which the material is heated and cooled, and the kind of thermal treatment that is done to the material. To assure the alloy's long-term performance in high-temperature conditions, one must carefully consider its selection, manufacture, installation, and maintenance techniques.

Welding : Duplex 2205 has excellent weldability and can be easily welded using common welding techniques, such as Gas Tungsten Arc Welding (GTAW), Gas Metal Arc Welding (GMAW), and Shielded Metal Arc Welding. Duplex 2205 also has a high melting point, making it a good choice for high-temperature applications (SMAW). When welding more significant portions, it is especially important to maintain tight control over the heat input so that cracking does not occur. Following the welding process, welds made with Duplex 2205 should be exposed to a heat treatment to achieve the highest possible level of corrosion resistance.
Heat Treatment: Although heat treating Duplex 2205 to increase its mechanical qualities is not often necessary, it is possible to do so. If heat treatment is necessary, solution annealing needs to be followed by quick cooling. A treatment that relieves stress may also be performed on the alloy; however, to prevent cracking, this procedure must be carefully controlled.
Hot forming: Hot forming should be carried out at temperatures ranging from 1700 degrees Fahrenheit (925 degrees Celsius) to 2250 degrees Fahrenheit (1230 degrees Celsius), with the appropriate heating and cooling rates, in order to achieve the highest possible levels of strength and resistance to corrosion.
Cold-Forming: Standard cold-forming methods, such as cold rolling and drawing, may be used to cold-form Duplex 2205 into the desired shape. In order to avoid cracking to provide the highest possible level of strength and corrosion resistance, cold forming must occur at room temperature or below.
Machinability: Compared to other types of stainless steel alloys, Duplex 2205 is more difficult to process. Its machinability may be improved using appropriate cutting parameters and tool geometries, although caution is still required to prevent cracking.
Fabrication: Duplex 2205 has a high level of fabricability and may be readily worked with using traditional fabrication processes like bending, stamping, and shaping. Fabrication Controlling the manufacturing process properly is essential if one wants to avoid cracking and guarantee maximum strength and corrosion resistance. The great strength of the alloy makes it suited for high-stress applications, yet, it is more difficult to work with than other stainless steel alloys because of its high strength.

To specify the various physical and mechanical properties of the finished product, various tests, both destructive and nondestructive, are performed. Metallurgical, hardness, hardenability, tension, ductility, compression, fatigue, impact, wear, corrosion, creep, machinability, radiography, magnetic particle, ultrasonic, and eddy current are some of the major tests that are performed by quality control personnel. Metallurgical testing is used to determine the quality of steel by analyzing the microstructure of a sample under a microscope. A cross section of a sample is first highly polished and then examined at a magnification from 100-500 diameters. The microstructure of steel consists of grains of different compositions and sizes.
